Spirituality 101: Who is God?

Who is God? What is the nature of reality? This Spirituality 101 video encourages you to examine your most basic assumptions about reality. There are five basic metaphysical models for God and reality.

Theism: God and the universe are separate and God occasionally intervenes in the creation.

Deism: God and the universe are separate and God does not intervene in the creation. God is like a watchmaker and the universe is his watch.

Pantheism: God and the universe are one.

Atheism: There is no God only the universe exists.

Panentheism: God and the universe are one, but God also transcends he universe. This is the God of the mystics. God is indwelling, omnipresent, and transcendent. In this model God is another name for everything seen and unseen. In this model consciousness/god is integral to matter, not emergent, and everything in the universe is alive and sacred.

One you have clarified your most basic assumptions about reality. Embody them in every thought, action, and deed.
